“Lump of Coal”

Diamonds are formed under heat and pressure, they are worth far more than Gold.
Her story begins, when her parents separated, she was only one and a half years old.
Life can be hard when such little regard is given to our feelings, it's unfair and unjust.
She feels no resentment, doesn't blame him for leaving, there is no absence of trust.
Things went from bad to worse, a derisible curse, at age nine her doctor discovered.
A tumor in her head, that put her in bed, after several years, she thankfully recovered.
She remembers the feeling, of dealing with death and the effect that had on her mind.
Turning to the arts, the classical crafts, helped keep her negative thoughts confined.
The sentence reprieved, the all clear was decreed, now death would have to wait.
Despite all these troubles, she became top of her class and graduated to Ufa State.
She spent three years working in oil, from the carbon spoils that provide us liquid gold.
But now she accounting, her life is amounting, to so much more than a lump of coal.
