"Asha" is a Hindi word meaning something of the nature of hope, longing or desire. I wrote this tune around 1961-1963. At that time, I liked a young woman named Kasha, but I didn't want her to know that I liked her. I asked a classmate from India if there is a Hindi word that would describe my situation; something that might convey the sentiment, even if only I would know its significance.
